On Windows it will depend on your operating system version and on whether you have UAC enabled. On the Mac this happens virtually every time. In both cases (Mac and Windows both) you may need to authenticate to be able to write to protected directories. Double-click the installer package and it will also walk you through the install process. When you double-click it the disk will mount and open – there is an installer package inside the image. For Mac plugins, There are standardized locations for all plugins, and we use those. The installer tries to be smart and figure out where you already put the plugins, but it’s easy to get that wrong.
